Former federal lawmaker Elisha Abbo voiced his grievances on Wednesday, alleging a deliberate attempt by Court of Appeal justices to nullify his election.
During a press briefing, Abbo urged Tinubu and the National Judicial Council (NJC) to halt the swearing-in of C.E. Nwosu-Iheme who was nominated for the Supreme Court, citing allegations of corruption and unsuitability due to leading the judgment nullifying his election.
Abbo called on the NJC to investigate the circumstances surrounding his election nullification, questioning the accountability of judges.
He emphasized that judges should not be above the law and criticized Justice Nwosu-Iheme’s nomination despite contradicting past judgments.
Additionally, Abbo accused Court of Appeal President Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem of lobbying for her appointment and allowing corruption to permeate the appellate court.
He urged honest judges not to succumb to corrupt practices and criticized the alleged commercialization of justice during Dongban-Mensem’s tenure.
Abbo also recalled his role in confirming Dongban-Mensem’s appointment as a senator and refuted claims of soliciting money during the screening process.
He highlighted the alleged influence-peddling and unethical conduct within the Court of Appeal, expressing disappointment in its erosion of integrity.
