Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on Tuesday suggested that it was better for government to construct roads and provide other critical infrastructure than for it to embark on palliative distribution.
Making this assertion while speaking at the inspection of the Abuja-Lokoja construction alongside Dave Umahi, the minister of works, Yahaya Bello advised civil servants to work with sincerity and commitment to help the minister deliver quality infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Minister has promised to deliver concrete roads across the country, saying they were more durable, irrevocable, and 50 years maintenance-free.
He, therefore, urged contractors to bring their quotations for concrete roads.
Mr Bello’s comments come as the President Bola Tinubu-led government rolls out palliative measures to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
His comment also comes on the heels of the N5 billion and truckloads of grain Tinubu approved for every state to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
