Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, came together on Thursday in Port Harcourt for a significant occasion—the rededication service of the 2023/2024 Legal Year at Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Hospital Road.
This public meeting marked the first encounter between the two politicians since the recent political turmoil in the state. Despite the challenges, Governor Fubara, speaking at the event, reaffirmed his allegiance to his predecessor, Minister Wike, acknowledging him as his principal.
Addressing the past political crisis, Governor Fubara emphasized that it is now a bygone chapter, urging for harmony and peace in the oil-rich state. He expressed optimism that the state’s progress is contingent on the peaceful coexistence of all stakeholders.
In his words, “My oga remains my oga. Whatever has transpired is now in the rearview. I haven’t authorized any campaign against anyone.” Governor Fubara acknowledged the trying times the state has faced, assuring that the current political disagreements will subside, paving the way for the fulfillment of the administration’s promises to the people.
