Ondo State House of Assembly has listed at least three allegations of gross misconduct against the state’s deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
PoliticsNow was reliably informed that the Deputy Governor is under investigation for approving the sum of N300 million for the purchase of a bulletproof SUV vehicle for his personal use.
The approval was allegedly given while the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was away in Germany recuperating from an ailment.
PoliticsNow further learnt that Aiyedatiwa ordered the N300 million to be sourced from the Palliative fund which was disbursed by President Bola Tinubu to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Nine lawmakers have already signed the impeachment notice, which is a petition that details the offences the deputy governor is accused of committing.
The petition was presented at an emergency plenary held on Wednesday, September 20.
There are strong indications that the lawmakers hoped to fast-track the process and remove the governor from office in a matter of days.
The clerk of the Assembly, Benjamin Jaiyeola, has been directed to write the deputy governor on the allegations against him.
