The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Usman Ahmed Ododo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Kogi state governorship election winner.
Announcing Ododo winner of the election, the returning officer, Professor Johnson Urama, detailed that the APC candidate polled a total of 446,237 to defeat Yakubu Murtala of the Social Democratic Party, who scored a total of 259,052.
The declaration comes just as INEC fixed Saturday, November 18, for the conduct of fresh elections in 59 polling units in Ogori Mangogo local government area of Kogi State.
INEC National Commissioner, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
The commission yesterday suspended the election in Ogori Mangogo over appearance of pre-filled results at several polling units long before voting.
The commission also said the situation in other local governments, including Adavi, Okene, Okehi and Ajaokuta, have been accounted for, hence, the elections in those areas won’t be canceled.
