Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the ongoing Kogi governorship election, Murtala Ajaka, has alleged that the original result sheets from Okene, Okehi and Adavi local government areas were missing.
The three local governments are part of the stronghold of the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, Usman Ododo. They are all Ebira speaking communities, the tribe of both Bello and Ododo.
Ajaka claimed agents of the SDP were not shown the original result sheets because the Returning Officers from those three local governments were working with the APC candidate to compromise the vote in the local governments.
Ajaka is not alone in making this allegation of missing original result sheets. Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, also alleged that the original result sheet for Ogori Mangogo were missing.
In a tweet, he said: “Voting not going on in Ogori Mangogo because INEC staff refuse to show our agents clean result sheets. If they refuse to show you untampered result sheets, resist and protest.”
