Real Madrid moved back to the top of the La Liga table after a convincing 4-1 home victory against Villarreal on Sunday. Goals from Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz and Luka Modrić, secured an important three points for Los Blancos.
The home side controlled the game from the start, with Bellingham opening the scoring in the 25th minute. Rodrygo doubled Real’s lead just before half-time to give them a comfortable lead going into the break.
Villarreal attempted a comeback early in the second half through José Luis Morales, but late goals from subs Diaz and Modrić sealed an emphatic win for the hosts. Real now sit ahead of Girona on goal difference, although Girona have a game in hand which they will play against Alaves on Monday night.
It was a statement performance from Carlo Ancelotti’s side, highlighting the offensive talent in the squad. With the Liga title race ramping up, this win keeps Los Blancos in the title-contention conversation.
