Residents and road users at the Mile 2 axis of Lagos, are currently contending with confusion arising from protests following the killing of a truck driver by security operatives.
The entire stretch of the road leading to and from Apapa has been taken over by street urchins, commonly called Area Boys and touts, leaving motorists stranded.
Our correspondent who ran into the confusion, reports that agberos (touts) blocked the roads and were burning tyres.
The uncertainty was heightened by the arrival of security agents who shot into the air to disperse the protesters.
Tension was said to have started building earlier in the morning of Tuesday, September 5, when an unidentified truck driver was allegedly killed by security operatives.
“There is confusion here (Mile 2). Everywhere is blocked and there is no movement between Mile 2 and Apapa. The police are shooting from different parts of the location. We are trapped in the crisis”, he lamented.
It was not immediately clear why the truck driver was shot and killed in cold blood.
