A former senator who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has urged Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani to constitute a panel to probe the administration of Nasir El-Rufai.
Sani made the comment on the heel of revelation by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State who said that he inherited a huge debt burden of $587m, N85bn and 115 contractual liabilities from the immediate past administration of Nasir El-Rufai, lamenting that the huge debt has eaten deep into the state’s federal allocation.
Shehu Sani, whose opposition to El-Rufai, especially his disagreement with the then Governor on foreign loans, lost his senatorial seat on account of that.
Uba Sani, who is now the current governor of Kaduna State, replaced Shehu Sani as the senator representing Kaduna Central. He later helped to facilitate the loans for El-Rufai since the law demands that Senators from the state seeking foreign loan must give approval before it is considered by the Debt Management Office.
Shehu Sani, in a post on his X handle, said: “The looting of Kaduna State cannot be remedied by revelations alone;but by Courageously constituting a probe panel headed by an independent professional Accountant or Auditor who will invite and investigate ex Government officials and their proxy Contractors to account for the millions in Dollars and Billions in Naira that were misused or outrightly stolen, including the $350million loan.Kaduna State is at its hour of reckoning with the truth I foretold and the truth for which I was vilified.”
