Despite a truce reached by opposing camps in the Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) to preserve the status quo and keep Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in office, there appears to be a clandestine plot against the resolution.
According to a report by The Nation Newspaper, lawmakers in the state House of Assembly loyal to the Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, convened a plenary on Tuesday hoping to get the numbers in declaring Governor Akeredolu incapacitated and pronounce Lucky Aiyedatiwa the Acting Governor. The report says the numbers didn’t add up.
According to the report, pro-Aiyedatiwa lawmakers believed that the truce brokered by President Bola Tinubu was for Aiyedatiwa to be declared acting governor since Akeredolu has been away from his desk for six months.

Akeredolu has been off his desk since June after taking 21 days medical leave twice to travel abroad for medical care. During the period, Aiyedatiwa acted as the Acting Governor of Ondo State.
He returned to the country in October amid excitement by his supporters that he would resume his duties. He wrote to the House of Assembly to notify them that he was taking over the reins of the state. But since he landed Nigeria from Germany, he has remained in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. This has further heightened suspicion that all is not well with the governor.
