Reno Omokri, a former spokesperson to erstwhile president Goodluck Jonathan, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party to focus on the narcotics allegations against President Bola Tinubu and leave out claims that the former president did not graduate from Chicago state university.
Giving this advice in a statement made available on his Twitter page on Thursday, Omokri who was a strong supporter of the PDP at the just concluded presidential election suggested that the president would be found guilty for the drug cases brought against him, adding that trying to instigate a case with claims that the president didn’t attend Chicago State University is a dead end.
“To those saying that the Bola Tinubu that attended Chicago State University was a female, please read the letter given to me by @ChicagoState after I went there in person. The Bola A. Tinubu that attended their university was a MALE not a FEMALE. I don’t support Tinubu. He has a known dr*g cartel past. Nevertheless, he attended that university. If you doubt the authenticity of this letter, then visit the University yourself, or call them on the numbers provided. Let us focus on what has substance. And that is the dr*g case. He is definitely guilty on that score. As for this one, it is a dead end!” Omokri said.
His comments come as President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission closed their defense at the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
In 2022, a certified copy of a more than 30-year-old case against the president reappeared on social media. According to the case file, Magistrate Judge Rosemond of the Northern District of Illinois granted the request for the seizure of money from Mr. Tinubu’s ten bank accounts on January 1992 because the US government had grounds to suspect the accounts were connected to drug-related operations.
