Reno Omokri, a former spokesperson for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has asked the authorities to look into the event that caused the Supreme Court structure to catch fire.
Omokri made this plea in a post on Monday, citing the necessity for an investigation to stop conspiracy theorists from contaminating the minds of Nigerians.
“The Supreme Court on fire? I call on the authorities to carry out an urgent, important, thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances of this blaze, otherwise, conspiracy theorists will have a field day and poison the minds of Nigerians concerning the Presidential Petition appeal of various parties that took part in the #NigerianElections2023,” Omokri wrote.
PoliticsNow had previously reported on the Supreme Court complex fire.
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party are headed to the Supreme Court to contest the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal that affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s election at the time of his call.
Recall that the PEPT dismissed all petitions filed in opposition to Tinubu’s candidature as president in 2023.
However, the Labour Party and the PDP both disagreed with the tribunal’s ruling and made plans to appeal it to the Supreme Court.
Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi submitted 86 grounds for appeal to the Supreme Court in an effort to have the ruling overturned.
The two candidates argued that Tinubu’s election should be deemed illegitimate and that the PEPT judgement should be overturned in separate appeals that were lodged on Tuesday.
In his 35 points, Atiku attacked the tribunal’s ruling regarding the electronic transmission of results, the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory, and other important issues.
On the other hand, Obi made 51 separate arguments against the September 6 ruling.
