Tottenham Hotspur manager, Ange Postecoglou, is in the running to become the first boss in English Premier League history to win Manager of the Month three times in a row. The Australian has already claimed the award for August and September, and has now been shortlisted for October, after guiding Spurs to three wins from three games.
Postecoglou faces competition from Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp. Arteta led the Gunners to two wins and a draw including a statement victory over champions, Manchester City. Emery oversaw two wins and a draw to lift Villa up the table, while Klopp’s Liverpool remain in the title hunt after going unbeaten.
Postecoglou remains the favourite after totting up maximum points in October. Despite being reduced to ten men away at Luton, Spurs ground out a 1-0 win before dispatching Fulham 2-0 at home. They then won 2-1 at Crystal Palace to make it nine points from nine.
If Postecoglou claims the award again, he will achieve a feat unmatched in EPL history. The 47-year-old has made a stunning impact since arriving from Celtic in the summer, implementing his high-tempo attacking style to great effect.
Having already won August and September’s prizes, scooping October’s would cap a remarkable start to life in England for the Australian. The winner will be announced in the coming days.
