The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Porsha William, has filed for divorce from her husband, Simon Guobadia after just 15 months of marriage.
The filing was made in Georgia, on February 22, just days after it became apparent that Guobadia was in danger of deportation as his request for US citizenship was denied because of his past fraudulent activities.
Guobadia first entered the US from Nigeria in 1985 and is accused of credit card fraud and identity fraud, among others.
Their relationship was controversial from the start, with Williams exiting the Bravo franchise after announcing their engagement. This was just a month after they began dating. At the time, Guobadia was still legally married to Falynn Pina, who joined the show in Season 13 as a friend of Williams. Williams insisted their friendship was only for the show.
Despite Guobadia’s immigration issues, a source revealed that the divorce is reportedly unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past, and the cause of their split is an ongoing matter.
42-year-old Williams and 59-year-old Guobadia were wedded in November 2022, in Nigeria’s native law and custom, followed by a lavish American ceremony in Atlanta at the 4 seasons in Atlanta in front of 250 guests. The bride changed into seven dazzling outfits during the ceremonies.
Porsha has a 4-year-old daughter from a previous relationship while Simon is a father of five older children.
