The Lagos state police command has opened investigation into the case of Inspector Raphael Edeifo, the officer accused of requesting monetary to take up a case.
Announcing the development in a statement made available on his social media page on Wednesday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of Lagos police command said the Inspector has been handed over to the provost for investigation.
“Meanwhile, the officer, Inspector Raphael Edeifo, accused of demanding money to take up the case at Pen Cinema has been handed over to the Provost for investigation and orderly room trial, if found culpable,” Tweet by Mr Hundeyin read.
Punch newspaper had earlier reported that the officer was alleged to have demanded N50,000 to take up a case of extortion and blackmail reported by a distressed widow.
