Ogun State Police Command has issued a stern warning to parents and guardians across the state, urging them to closely monitor their wards amid intelligence reports of a planned cult-related celebration known as “777.”
In an advisory released at the weekend, the Police said it has uncovered credible information indicating preparations by cult groups to mark the annual anniversary, which is typically associated with violence and public disorder.
“As part of proactive measures, the Command has reinforced security presence across all Divisions and Area Commands,” said CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer. “Any unlawful gatherings, processions or events linked to cultism will be met with swift and decisive police action.”
The Police Command warned that it would not tolerate any attempt to breach public peace, and that security operatives have been mandated to act promptly in dispersing suspicious gatherings.
“Young people are strongly advised to avoid loitering or forming clusters in public places,” Odutola stated, emphasizing that anyone found with firearms or involved in cult-related activities would face prosecution.
The statement also appealed to community leaders, school authorities, and religious bodies to join in sensitizing youths against involvement in cultism.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, and urged residents to report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
