Delta police have arrested a suspected car thief who posed as a buyer and absconded with N55m Benz during a test drive in Abuja.
The alleged car thief, Meshack Sinuphro, posed as an intending buyer to allegedly absconded with the N55m Mercedes Benz SUV during a test drive in Abuja.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday, July 6, said the suspect, Meshack Sinuphro, specializes in stealing vehicles while pretending to be a buyer.
According to the PPRO, the suspect was arrested in Benin City, Edo State while the stolen car was recovered in a bush along Oteri road in Ughelli North.
“Sequel to a complaint received on 3/7/2023 at about 1700hours from a car dealer in Abuja whose vehicle was stolen from his car stand by the suspect who disguised as intending buyer and absconded with the said vehicle during a test drive on 30/6/2023 in Abuja. Armed with available intelligence, operatives of the CP-Decoy Squad stormed Ughelli town at about 0115hours of 3/7/2023, recovered the said Mercedes Benz SUV abandoned in a bush along Oteri road by Doctors Quarters Ughelli North LGA.”
In an update, the PPRO added; “The suspect, Meshack Sinuphro, who allegedly stole the Benz at Abuja while pretending to be a buyer, has been arrested by the Command Decoy squad today in Benin city. Suspect will be transferred to FCT command soonest. Always report crimes to the police, and we will always deliver,” the spokesperson added.
