The police have arrested media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, according to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
He said via his X handle, @adeyanjudeji that: “Our client, @thatverydarkman has just been arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igwe for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad. Instead of the police to arrest the person alleged to have duped someone, they arrested VDM on allegation of defamation.”
VeryDarkMan had on a video alleged that a trader paid N1 million to Ashmusy, a social media influencer to do a video and promote his business on her social media account. The payment was done in October 2023. Eight months later, Ashmusy refused to do the video on the grounds that Alaba Market was too far for her to access from Lekki, according to the audio file of their conversation.
In the audio file, Ashmusy requested additional N1.5 million to do the job, assuring the trader that the promo would earn him over N100 million in sales. The trader declined and requested a refund. But Ashmusy refused, telling the trader to forfeit the money for a ‘fine girl.’
She also told the trader that if he called her out on social media, he would only make her popular. And if he decided to involve the police, she would leave the country.
