An old post of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on X, formerly Twitter, has surfaced online following Christmas Day mass murder of several villagers in Plateau communities.
Tinubu had made the post on April 14, 2014 in reaction to a suicide bomb attack that killed scores of people in the Yanyan area of the Federal Capital Territory.
In the post, Tinubu had said: “My heart bleeds for our people and the country over the deaths in Yanyan. A government unable to protect its citizens deserves to be queried.”

Nigeria’s security situation has since worsened under Jonathan’s successor, Muhammadu Buhari and now Tinubu.
Incidences of insecurity under Jonathan’s government used to be limited to the North East. But under Buhari and Tinubu, they gave escalated to most parts of the country,
Former chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Professor Chidi Odinkalu, quoted part of the old post of Tinubu and asked netizens to weigh in.
He said: “”A govt unable to protect its citizens deserves to be queried….” Discuss!
@chymaker replied: “That was in 2014, not in 2023 Sir.”
@realokopet added: “The question we should ask Tinubu is ‘do we have a government now?”
