Supporters of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are asking for the outright expansion of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike as one of their own after making the list of All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council for the 2023 Bayelsa State governorship election.
PoliticsNow, recalls that Wike and Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State, were both listed as members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Bayelsa governorship election campaign council
The former governor of Rivers State was also recently sworn in by President Bola Tinubu as a minister, although he has not yet resigned from the Peoples Democratic, PDP.
The APC National Working Committee has now named Wike as a member of their campaign council to prosecute the Bayelsa governorship election against the PDP’s sitting governor, Duoye Diri.
For many supporters of the PDP, this is the time to show Wike the red card. On Twitter, they bared their mind.
@SodiqTade said: “NNPP has suspended the party founder, Kwakwanso, but PDP can’t even suspend a non-active member. NNPP was built around Kwakwanso pre-election unlike PDP, yet they had the guts to suspend him. There is no excuse whatsoever for PDP not to suspend Wike.”
@emmaikumeh said: “Nyesom Wike is in both PDP and APC Campaign Councils for Bayelsa election. What exactly is the party doing? I have never seen this type of rubbish before. It’s well.”
The main opposition party’s leadership, however, had not yet responded to the development.
Recall that before Wike fell out with the leadership of PDP in the run-up to the 2023 presidential election, he had demanded that Iyorcha Ayu be fired as the party’s national chairman in exchange for his commitment to helping the party win the election.
Wike formed an alliance with the governing All Progressives Congress after the party leadership tried but failed to oust the national chairman.
