The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Kogi election, Dino Melaye, has said the party is finished, irredeemable and fully commercialized.
Dino, a strong ally of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate in the last election, accused the acting national chairman of the party, Ambassador Iliyasu Damagun, the national secretary, Sam Anyanwu and another chieftain, Umar Bature of destroying the party.
He posted on his X handle, “End of the road for PDP as Damagun, Bature and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time.”
Dino is not the only one accusing Damagun of killing the major opposition party.
A House of Representatives member, Ikenga Ugochinyere, had said in the past that the Acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagun, is plotting to destroy the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Ugochinyere, Damagum was a clear and present danger to the PDP and its survival, stressing that he has now come out openly and was no longer disguising that his loyalty is with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
