Omokri advises whoever emerges President after Tribunal to appoint a Diaspora Minister

Former presidential spokesman, Reno Omokri, has advised whoever emerges as the country’s president after the verdict of the presidential election tribunal to appoint a Minister for Nigerians in the diaspora to engage Nigerians living abroad for the nation’s economic development.

Giving the advice in a tweet on Sunday, Omokri claimed that Nigerians in diaspora were bringing more foreign capital into the country than funds gotten from World Bank, IMF and Paris club.

“Whoever is President after the Supreme Court’s decision on the #NigerianElections2023 should consider appointing a Minister for Nigerians in the Diaspora to engage Nigerians living abroad for the nation’s economic development,” Omokri wrote.

“Diaspora Nigerians bring more foreign capital into Nigeria through remittances back home than the World Bank, IMF, and the Paris Club combined. Diaspora Nigerians remit $24 billion to Nigeria annually,” he added.

The former presidential spokesman argued that a cabinet minister was needed to work with Nigerians living abroad to address their issues and strengthen their connection to the motherland, so as to increase the amount of money repatriated into the country.

He further suggested that they be given the right to vote in future elections, to motivate them to increase their remittance back home.

“If a cabinet minister worked with them to address their issues and strengthen their connection to the motherland, that amount would increase. And if they are given the right to vote in future elections, remittance back home will explode!”
