The Oduduwa Development Initiative, a socio-political group, has called on the members of the 10th National Assembly to look inward and support the Senate Presidency bid of Godswill Akpabio, of the All Progressives Congress, APC. The group made this call in a statement released by its national president, Ambassador Akinyele Olasumbo, on Monday June 12.
Their statement read that “Considering, among many other solid reasonings, that in the interest of national unity, having a president and vice president who are Muslims, it will only be fair to give the number three office to a Christian”. It added that the emergence of Akpabio, a South Southerner, will ensure a balance of power and inclusiveness in the Assembly.
Enumerating some of the successes of the former Akwa Ibom State Governor, the group said Akpabio’s giant stride in governance has not gone unnoticed, as he has received numerous awards and accolades both nationally and internationally for his achievements.
It added that “His administration has been praised for its transparency, accountability and good governance. Godswill Akpabio has also made significant achievements as a Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, in the Nigerian National Assembly”.
