Former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, has emerged as chairman of the national caretaker committee of the Labour Party (LP).
The decision meant Julius Abure ceased to be the recognised chairman of the party.
The meeting which held on Wednesday at the Banquet Hall of Abia State Government House in Umuahia, Abia State capital, chose Nenadi Usman as caretaker chairman of the party.

In her acceptance speech, the former minister stressed the need for the party to work together and promised to do her job diligently.
The party’s former chairman, Julius Abure, did not attend the meeting.
Among those who were present at the meeting were the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his former running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Abia State Governor Alex Otti, his deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu, and some members of the National Assembly of LP extraction including Senator Victor Umeh, Obi Aguocha, and members of State House of Assembly were also present.
Former LP governorship candidate in Imo, Athan Achonu, and some other former governorship candidates of the party were also in attendance.
