Obi meets Obasanjo hours after visiting IBB

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, visited ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Lagos, just hours after meeting former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida.

Obi, in a post on his X handle, said he visited Obasanjo yesterday January 2 to wish him a happy New Year.

He had paid similar visit to former military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida on Thursday, sparking speculation that the tour is related to the 2027 presidential contest.

Obi said about his visit to Obasanjo: “Yesterday, I travelled from Abuja to Lagos to visit a father figure, Leader, and Former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, to wish him a happy new year and also deliberateded on issues of national concern.

“Like always, I appreciate and enjoy his fatherly words of advice and kind guidance. President Obasanjo remains one of the leaders under whom our nation saw tremendous growth. To date, he continues to add his voice of wisdom to solving the many challenges facing us as a nation. I wish him and his family abundant health and happiness in the new year and beyond as he continues to contribute to our national development. A New Nigeria is POssible.”
