Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin, renounces Islam five years after embracing it, gives reasons

In the space of five years, Nollywood actress, Lizzy Anjorin, has moved from Christianity, Islam and out of religion altogether.

Lizzy, fondly called Alhaja or Iya Adini by some of her Muslim fans, said she has dropped those Islamic religious titles, and the religion too.

Her reason was because Muslims didn’t come to her rescue after being bullied on social media.

Lizzy, which is a short form of the Christian name, Elizabeth, said: “Don’t ever call me alhaja or iya adini again, I did not see any Muslim defend me on social media.”

In 2018, the actress and filmmaker announced a switch from Christianity to Islam because pastors refused to help with the burial rites of her mother.

She said her mother who was born into a Muslim family, slept in the church “several times during our struggles so we are automatically Christians.”

Anjorin said no less than ten pastors refused to perform the funeral rites when her mother died because they said her mother was not a member of their church.
