Justice M. A. Adumein who gave the conflicting judgment in the Kano election dispute which is now being blamed on ‘clerical error’, requested for prayer at the beginning and end of the hearing session which took place on November 6, according to New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) legal adviser, Robert Hon.
The NNPP legal adviser made the disclosure on Friday during an interview on Arise Television where he quoted justice Adumein as saying that the judiciary had got to its lowest point where litigants threaten them to make favourable rulings.
He said the justice appealed to all the lawyers in the court to prevail on their clients to stop reaching out to them and issuing threats against them.
According to Robert Hon, some senior members of the inner bar where in attendance including Chief Wole Olanipekun and Gboyega Awomolo, all lawyers of the NNPP when the Justice made the comment. He said a prayer was then said before the session commenced and at the end.
Recall that on November 17, the three member panel of the Kano State Governorship appeal, led by M. A. Adumein upheld the judgment of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which sacked Governor Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP. But a portion of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment which emerged five days later, showed Governor Kabir Yusuf being retained by the Court as winner of the Kano governorship election.
