The Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Tuesday announced the suspension of its presidential candidate at the 2023 presidential election, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The suspension comes as the party’s internal crisis worsens.
The former Kano governor was handed a six-month suspension for anti-party activities.
Since the end of the 2023 elections, a secret crisis of confidence has been brewing within the party, with allegations and counter-accusations amongst the various groupings within its ranks.
The crisis has now reached a boiling point, with the suspension of its Presidential Candidate and National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
This comes after its national Publicity Secretary and others were suspended previously, a move that was rejected by its Board of Trustees.
