Nnadozie’s clean sheet helps Paris knock Real Madrid out of women’s UCL

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie starred as Paris FC knocked Real Madrid Women out of the UEFA Women’s Champions League after a 1-0 home win.

A second half penalty by French international Gaetane Thiney proved the difference on Thursday night in what was Los Blancos’ third loss in four group matches.

Despite two games still left to play in Group A, Real Madrid cannot now progress to the quarter-finals after slumping to the bottom of the table. In contrast, visitors Paris FC still harbor hopes of progression while Chelsea strengthened their grip on top spot with an impressive 3-1 away victory over Hacken in Sweden.

Emma Hayes’ Blues, with eight points from four matches, remain on course to reach the knockout stages – a stated priority for Hayes before she leaves the club at the end of this campaign. Elsewhere in Group C, Ajax claimed a vital 1-0 home win over Bayern Munich to go top on seven points.

Real Madrid will now turn attention to domestic competitions as they attempt to recover from a chastening European experience this term.
