Following the kidnap of six siblings in the Bwari area of Abuja leading to the killing of one of them on Saturday, Nigerians have demanded that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike spend more time in his place of assignment than frequently traveling to Rivers State.
Wike has been drawn in a long battle with the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara over the control of the political structure of the state. The tussle has led to the FCT Minister spending more time in Rivers State to secure the support of stakeholders in the state.
Wike came under fire on Saturday following the news that terrorists who abducted six siblings, have murdered one of the ladies, Nabeeha over failure to pay N60 million at the expiration of the deadline given for the payment.
On X, Nigerians have been asking the FCT Minister to focus on his job instead of engaging in a distrative political tussle.
@OgbeniDipo said: “The Minister of FCT should cut short his trip from Rivers and return to Abuja. The President should be meeting with security chiefs tomorrow. The frequency of these kidnappings and killings is outrageous.”
