Nigerians angry, lambast Charly Boy over comment mocking Doyin Okupe in death

Nigerians have descended on Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy over remarks which appears to mock in death former director general of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, Doyin Okupe.

Okupe, 72, died on March 7 following a prolonged battle with cancer.

In a post on his X handle, the 74-year-old Charly Boy said he wished the late politician stayed alive to witness Obi’s political feat in 2027.

Recall that Okupe switched support for Tinubu after the 2023 election.

Charly Boy said via his X handle @AreaFada1: “May you rest in peace, as a restless soul you need am. I wish you had waited a while to see how Peter Obi go take waka for 2027. We are not suppose to yab people who have passed on, but bro, ur own been too much. I can’t lie. Anyway, Rest In Peace regardless. I come in peace.”

His comment provoked flurry of negative reactions against him on X. Here are some:

@VividProperty2 said: “This is not the view of the Obidients or any reasonable supporters or fans of Mr. Peter Obi. This is totally condemnable by every right thinking human being. Why on earth will over 70 years old man have such a disgusting opinion over a dead man because of political affiliation?”

@Mekazynnaemeka2 said: “This is the most useless post ever. Charly, how do you feel as a human being to write this. What exactly did Doyin do to you. Mr Okupe, may gentle soul rest in peace.”

@OfficiaEdoOsasB said: “You supposed don outgrow dis kind thing.”

@akinwale_cfi said: “This is so shameful Mr. Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa at your Age… but again who are we to Judge God! Really sad to read this from you!”

@AdetunjiAdewolu said: “@AreaFada1 It is better to remain silent than to say this word; the internet can not be a liar; when the time comes, it will resurface without a hitch; Nigerians have bookmarked it.”
