Nigeria came second in a ranking of countries that prayed the most on earth, according to a survey conducted by Pew Research Center, one of the most reputable poll firms in the world.
Nigeria, with a huge Christian and Muslim population, trailed behind Afghanistan, the country run by the Taliban. Afghanistan took the first position with a 96 per cent prayer rate while Nigeria took the second position with a 95 per cent prayer rate.
Curiously, the countries that made the first nine in prayer rates, except Indonesia, are all struggling with poverty, insecurity and dilapidated infrastructure. Those who prayed the least are in the first world, led by China with the second largest economy in the world after the United States of America.
The Pew Research Center is a non-partisan American think tank based in Washington, D.C.
It provides data on social issues, public opinion and demographic trends shaping the United States and the world at large.
Here is the list of the most prayerful countries on Earth:
- Afghanistan: 96%
- Nigeria: 95%
- Algeria: 88%
- Senegal: 88%
- Djibouti: 87%
- Iran: 87%
- Iraq: 87%
- Niger: 87%
- Indonesia: 84%
Meanwhile, the likes of China (1%), UK (6%), Switzerland (8%), Austria (8%), Czechoslovakia (9%), Germany (9%), Estonia (9%) France (10%) and Denmark (10%) are the least prayerful countries.
