As Nigerians await the results of the Saturday’s election from the ongoing Collation of the Presidential election, the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has cautioned Politicians and other political actors to refrain from hate speech or remarks capable of disrupting the ongoing process.

Briefing journalists  in Abuja on just concluded elections, the Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission, Chief Tony Ojukwu said the turnout and the determination of the citizens to perform their civic responsibility was commendable.

Chief Ojukwu emphasized that the commission would hold any individuals or group accountable for any breach of peace or promoting violence in the ongoing process.

Chief Ojukwu, stressed that the commission observed late arrival of materials to some polling units as well as vote buying during the Saturday's election.

The NHRC called on electoral umpire and other stakeholders in the electoral process to improve on some of the challenges in the next month’s governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

He urged Nigerians to remain calm, patriotic and loyal to the laws of the country.
