The Department of State Services (DSS) has assured that it would investigate its operative who allegedly shot a tailor at the Garki market in Abuja.
Recall that two people were yesterday injured after an operative of the DSS shot at a tailor in the Garki Market.
It was gathered that a woman had invited a DSS operative to harass the tailor who had delayed finishing her job.
In a bid to avoid being manhandled by the DSS operative, the tailor was said to have ran away and got shot in the leg allegedly by the DSS operative, while a bullet also hit a girl nearby.
The DSS, in a statement by its spokesman, Peter Afunanya, said the shooting would be investigated
The statement reads: “The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to an incident that occurred a few hours ago (today, 7/9/2023) between its staff and a mob at the Garki Market, Abuja. Information at the disposal of the Service was that its FCT Command responded to an SOS from their field operatives who allegedly came under a mob attack in the said market.
“Consequently, the Service has commenced an investigation into the matter. The public is assured that details of the inquiries will be communicated as soon as possible. The Service assures that it will not hesitate to mete out proper disciplinary measure(s) to its staff if found culpable or running foul of Standard Operating Procedures on dealing with a member of the public.”
But skeptical netizens doubted if anything would come out of the investigation after the DSS posted the statement on its X handling.
@FrancesChukwu said: “You are already calling them a mob. Seems like you already made up your mind on what happened?”
@snowice04 said: “And you expect us to trust your investigation?”
@Youth_Cham said: “Since they changed the name from SSS to DSS, they’re no longer a secret police. They’re now investigating even a fight in the market. Very shameful!”
@ogbmartins77 said: “Lol…. You guys demystified yourselves….. We don’t even used to know you guys before now.”
