A flurry of reactions has greeted the photo of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu greeting billionaire businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata with a bow during a meeting at the Aso Rock Villa.
Dantata is the maternal uncle of Africa’s richest man Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
Although the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga had explained why Tinubu bowed to greet Dantata, mixed reactions continued to pour.
Onanuga had said that Tinubu’s action was a demonstration of his “trademark respect” for the 93-year-old patriarch of the famous Alhassan Dantata family from Kano State.
He said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu showed trademark respect to Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, Chairman of Dantata Group of Companies when the latter visited him in Abuja on Tuesday. Dantata, 93 on 19 May, is the patriarch of the Alhassan Dantata family in Kano.”
On X, the reactions have been diverse.
@JakesOlasupo said: “He (Tinubu) will do anything for the Northern votes.”
@Waspapping_ said: “If you don’t know them, you’d think Dantata is the President and Tinubu is the visitor.”
@MFaarees_ said: “See as Tinubu dey sit as if na him be the visitor. If not Dantata then who? Money good ah swear.”
But @SasDantata said: “When a president bows to greet you, it’s a sign you are truly blessed! Whether at home in Kano or away in the villa, Tinubu consistently shows great respect to Chairman! May Allah grant Baba Aminu abundant health, wealth, & long life to continue his philanthropic endeavors, Ameen!”
@twuyi68 also said: “Yoruba are the most cultured tribe in the world. Imagine the number one citizen of Nigeria PBAT greeting an elderly man with full respect. God Bless our President.”
