In collaboration with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL), the Nigerian Navy has successfully intercepted a vessel carrying approximately 200,000 liters of stolen crude oil in Delta State. The vessel, capable of carrying 350,000 liters of raw crude, was apprehended off the coast of the Gbaramatu Kingdom area in Warri. Alongside the vessel, twenty-three suspects have been detained, and the entire operation is under investigation at the Oporoza area.
General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, confirmed the incident during an inspection of the vessel, accompanied by high-ranking officials from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited. Gen. Musa assured that the Chief of Defence Intelligence would initiate an immediate investigation to uncover the individuals responsible for the criminal act.
Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, expressed concern about the increasing levels of crude oil theft in recent months, despite efforts to boost crude oil production and enhance government revenue in the country.
