About 24 hours after former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo was seen in a viral video dancing to a traditional chant with Naira being splashed on his feet, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has responded to the challenge made to it by Nigerians to show its impartiality by arresting him.
Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, is the chief executive officer of Tantita, the security company with the billion-dollar contract of securing Nigeria’s pipeline infrastructure.
Dear @officialEFCC come out o.
Here is Tompolo mutilating the Naira.I know the eyes of that your eagle will suddenly go blind but I am bringing this to your attention publicly so the whole world will see you are a shameless agency with double standards.pic.twitter.com/ys8HJir3Jf

Many Nigerians have been arrested and prosecuted over Naira abuse, including a crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, who spent six months in prison for the same offence.
In the latest video of Tompolo, which appears to be an Egbesu spiritual ceremony, he was filmed dancing to a traditional Ijaw move while another individual splashes money along his feet. Many Nigerians who saw the video dared the EFCC to also arrest Tompolo, especially because a few days earlier, popular social media personality Martins Vincent Otse was arrested and interrogated by the EFCC over Naira abuse and other allegations.
Reacting to Nigerians on social media, EFCC via its handle posted a short comment on the issue. It said: “Nobody is above the law. Tompolo will have questions to answer!”
But Nigerians appear not to believe the EFCC over its threat to inviting Tompolo for questioning.
Here are some of the reactions on X.
@IgonorMathias: “Tompolo will face the law. Use the right words Which questions he want answer?”
@AustinINstate: “Which one is question again? or he would face the law? Abeg do your work well?”
@addel_cares: “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 just invite him for coffee discussion so that gullible Nigerians will rest.”
@DrKalu_PhD: “Hahahahaha…… He won’t be arrested, he will answer questions😂”
@masiobi: “Go and arrest him first and quit this online testing of waters”
