Mohbad’s wife Wunmi, brother Adura hiding critical information about my son’s death, says father

Joseph Aloba, the father of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has called on the Nigeria Police to summon the deceased’s wife Omowunmi and his own son, Adura to provide insights into the circumstances surrounding the late singer’s death.

The father of Mohbad recalled a recent press conference organised by actor Yomi Fabiyi regarding justice for Mohbad where a video allegedly sent by the late singer’s brother Adura was played and it raised more questions about Mohbad’s death.

Fabiyi then alleged that Adura knew some things about the singer’s death. This caused Mohbad’s mother, Abosede, to clash with Fabiyi during the press conference over the allegations made against Adura.

In reaction, Mohbad’s father released a statement claiming that his attempts to communicate with Adura, who was present in the house when Mohbad passed away, were obstructed. He expressed concerns about Adura’s silence, stating that he had refused to speak about the events leading to Mohbad’s death.

He then urged the Nigerian police to summon Mohbad’s brother, alongside the late singer’s wife.

The statement read, “I am calling on the Nigeria Police to summon my son, Adura Aloba and Omowunmi Cynthia Adebanjo, to provide insights into the death of my son, Ilerioluwa. This is due to the recent world press conference organised by Mr Yomi Fabiyi regarding the alleged video Adura Aloba reportedly sent to him —suspected to be linked to Mohbad’s tragic demise in his home. Things could have been easy without Mohbad’s mother’s role in obstructing all my efforts to see and reach out to Adura.

“Earlier on, after Mohbad’s death, I and other members of my family made several attempts to communicate with Adura to tell me and the family what happened to his brother on that fateful day. Despite all our efforts, she blocked every avenue through which we could reach him.

“A few days ago, during an interview on STV’s morning show, I expressed my concerns about Adura’s silence. He was in the house when Mohbad passed away, yet he has refused to speak, likely due to the influence of people whose motives, in this case, remain unclear to me and the whole world. This is a clear case of meddling, which is tantamount to obstructing the wheel of justice.”

Mr Aloba continued: “I urge the police to provide security to ensure their safety now and whenever they come forward to share knowledge with the authorities. I believe their cooperation and testimony could be instrumental in shedding light on the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s death.”
