The Father of Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, has joined fringe elements on social media to demand that a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test be conducted on his grandson.
A DNA test is done to resolve paternity issues. There is no evidence that Mohbad, while alive, doubted the paternity of his child.
However, Mohbad’s death on September 12, inspired conspiracy theorists into alleging the singer might not be the actual father of the child. Mohbad’s father appeared infected by the view.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin on Tuesday, the father said he and his late son were very close. According to the father, he regarded his son as a buddy and that the two of them interacted like brothers.
He said the controversy surrounding a DNA test on his grandson has spread throughout Nigeria and has become a national issue, hence, the need to resolve the issue.
According to the father of Mohbad, the right thing to be done is to carry out a DNA test to ascertain whether his son is the real father of the child.
In his words: “This thing has become a majority thing, not only Nigeria. So they should do the proper thing at the proper time.”
