A man who claimed to be Baale (chief) in Ikorodu, has claimed that he stopped the father of Mohbad from burying his son the same night he died.
Mohbad’s father has come under attack for hurriedly burying his son who died under controversial circumstances.
The father claimed that the culture of the Yoruba does not allow for keeping the corpse of a young person for a long time, hence his decision to quickly bury the singer.
A video has now surfaced of the Baale giving an account of the interactions he had with Mohbad’s father after the singer passed away.
According to the Baale, the late singer’s father had originally intended to hold a midnight funeral on the same day of his son’s passing, but he fiercely objected to the idea.
He added that he had voiced his dissatisfaction with the planned course of action and made it clear that midnight burial wouldn’t take place.
Expressing himself in Yoruba language, the Chief stated: “I am the one who did not allow them to bury him. They wanted to bring him in the midnight.
“His father had called me, firstly I didn’t want to answer him, I said you can’t bury him in the middle of the night, not here.
“They had already brought their shovel here because I was once the chairman of this community, also once a deputy chairman C.D.A of all this area even when there was no chairman I acted for some days.”
MohBah died on Tuesday, September 12, and was buried on Wednesday, September 13 at Ikorodu in what many have condemned as improper burial for the music star.
