The songs of Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley and those of his proteges, are being yanked off the playlist of Music channels including MTV Base and SoundCity.
Dozens of radio stations in Nigeria, including Splash FM, have placed a ban on the music of Naira Marley, known for his moral notoriety on social media.
Over 600,000 of his followers have deserted him on Instagram.
The aggressive clampdown on Naira Marley and those associated with him is in connection with several videos on social media showing how thugs allegedly under his command constantly bullied Mohbad for one year until his death on September 12.
Mohbad was a former signee of Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley.
Trouble started for Mohbad when he quit the Marlian label. Naira then unleashed his army of thugs, allegedly, against Mohbad for daring to do so.
MTV music channel staff and popular TV host, Ehizojie Okoeguale, aka DadaBoy Ehiz, announced on Wednesday, via his X page that Naira Marley’s songs and those of his proteges, have been banned on the music television station.
In a post shared on his X page, Ehiz wrote: “MTVbase dropped everything Marlian. Kudos to dem.”
