A fighter jet mistakenly bombed two communities in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Wednesday morning, leaving many innocent villagers feared dead and several others injured.
The affected villages, Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa, were struck around 7 am. The jet was reportedly targeting Lakurawa terrorists.
The chairman of Silame LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, described the incident as devastating.
Daftarana said: “The villagers were sitting peacefully when the bombs started dropping on the communities. They were innocent and peace-loving people who had no criminal record.
“It is too early for me to confirm the exact number of people killed or injured because we are still assessing the situation.”
