Mattawalle splashes N500m on Zamfara APC supporters

The Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Bello Mattawalle has donated the sum of N500 million to APC supporters in Zamfara State to enable them to observe the Ramadan fast with ease.

While addressing journalists in Gusau on Thursday, the minister’s aide, Ibrahim Danmaliki Didan-Goga said Mattawalle decided to give out cash instead of foodstuffs to APC supporters because the politicians in the state have so far distributed grains to their supporters.

Gidan-goga maintained that the cash donation would give the APC supporters ample opportunity to buy other things needed during the Ramadan fast.

He said, “This time around, instead of giving assorted grains to the people, we decided to give out cash because other politicians have distributed the foodstuffs.

“The former Governor of the state Senator Abdul Aziz Yari has donated 496 trucks of assorted grains, and the minister decided to give out money.

“We have selected 200 people from each of the 14 local government areas of the state where each person will be given one hundred thousand Naira, totalling N280 million.

“Similarly, 24 APC stakeholders from the five local government areas of the Zamfara West Senatorial Zone were given N250,000 each totalling N30 million.

“The minister has also given out N250,000 to each of the 90 APC stakeholders from the nine local government areas of Zamfara Central and Zamfara North Senatorial Zones totalling the sum of N22,500.00.

“There are other categories of people who benefitted from the minister’s Ramadan welfare packages apart from those that were mentioned.

“As I am talking to you now, more than 80 per cent of the targeted beneficiaries have so far collected their money.”

Continuing, he disclosed that the beneficiaries from Bakura, Gummi, Kaura-Namoda, Maradun, Shinkafi, and Talata-Mafara have since collected their money.

Gidan-goga also stressed that 100 people from each of the five local people areas of Tsafe, Zurmi, Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Anka have been paid, adding that, the remaining beneficiaries would soon get their money.

Explaining further, the minister’s aide insisted that beneficiaries from the Birnin Magaji Local Government have yet to collect their welfare due to the late submission of the names of those who would benefit from the minister’s gesture.

He called on those who benefitted from the Minister’s gesture to continue praying for the peace and progress of the nation.
