An explosion in the early hours of Monday has reportedly injured many workers at the Zungeru Hydro Electric Dam in Niger State.
The explosion also affected some critical installations in the dam, resulting in a power outage in Minna, Niger State.
An expatriate engineer was among the scores of persons injured by the blast, according to a report by ThisDay.
The injured workers were rushed to Minna General Hospital. The engineer, believed to be a Chinese national, was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital for treatment for burns on the head and hand.

According to the report, there are plans to transfer the affected workers to the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna for proper medical attention.
The number of workers injured by the explosion is yet to be known. An eyewitness however said: “They are many.”
The explosion’s cause is unknown at the time of filing this report, just as officials of the facility have yet to issue any statement confirming the incident.
