One Michael Chidozie, a father of three, has allegedly beaten his wife to death in Rivers for refusing to pay their house rent at his urging.
The suspect allegedly killed Ufuoma, 32, in the Mile 4 area of Port Harcourt over which the police said he has been arrested and detained for further investigation.
State Police Public Relations Officer Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the arrest and detention after he had fled the scene of the crime.
It was learnt police personnel attached to Agip Police Division, Mile 4 arrested Chidozie following intelligence and he was later transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Port Harcourt for investigation.
The body of Ufuoma reportedly had bruises inflicted on her by Chidozie who had fled the house after calling Ufuoma’s brother to come to the house over an emergency.
A source, who did not want his name published, said when the brother arrived, he found the lifeless body of his sister but Chidozie was nowhere near home.
The source recounted the suspect had mounted pressure on his wife to take responsibility for paying their house rent and her refusal to do so led to a heated argument.
When Ufuoma dropped dead, Chidozie allegedly fled, leaving the victim with their three children.
