Lukaku set for Chelsea exit as Roma loan ends

Romelu Lukaku’s turbulent spell in England looks set to continue as Roma are reportedly unwilling to pursue a permanent transfer for the Chelsea loanee.

The Belgian striker joined Roma on a season-long loan last summer after a public falling out with Inter Milan and failed negotiations with Juventus. While Lukaku has found some form with 18 goals in 41 games for Roma, a hefty price tag is proving to be a stumbling block.

Chelsea reportedly want £37 million for Lukaku, but Roma are unwilling to meet that valuation, especially considering the player’s high wages. Lukaku himself is keen to stay in Italy and hopes to convince Roma otherwise with strong performances in the remaining season.

With two years left on his Chelsea contract, a permanent exit seems inevitable for Lukaku. The Blues are likely looking to offload him not just to recoup losses but also to free up funds for a new striker. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is a target, though his hefty price tag makes RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko a more realistic option.

Lukaku’s potential move to Saudi Arabia, which he publicly expressed interest in earlier this year, could also be revisited by interested clubs.
