The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure says the party will refund to the family of a deceased governorship aspirant in Imo State, Humphrey Anumudu, the sum of N25 million, being money paid by him as nomination fee.

Chief Abure announced this during a chat with newsmen in Abuja.

He was speaking shortly after meeting with newly-elected lawmakers of the Labour Party. He told them that the party decided to return the nomination fee to the deceased’s family to show empathy and compassion.

he said: “You will recall that one of our aspirants in Imo State lost his life. I am pleased to inform the public and LP members and his immediate family that the party will refund the nomination fee of N25 million that he spent.”

Mr Anumudu had bought the party’s form to contest the primary ahead of the State governorship election in November but died last week.
