Kelechi Iheanacho has joined Sevilla FC on a free transfer, ending his seven-year stint with Leicester City.
The 27-year-old Nigerian striker, who moved from Manchester City to Leicester, has signed with the Spanish club for the 2024/2025 season.
During his time at Leicester, Iheanacho made 232 appearances and scored 61 goals. He played a key role in the club’s FA Cup victory and their EFL Championship title win. Prior to his Leicester career, Iheanacho won the EFL Cup with City.
Iheanacho becomes Sevilla’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. He will join fellow Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, adding depth to Sevilla’s attacking options for the upcoming La Liga campaign.
The move represents a new challenge for Iheanacho, who will be looking to make an impact in Spanish football after his experiences in the English Premier League. His goal-scoring ability and experience at the highest level could prove valuable for Sevilla as they compete domestically and in European competitions.
Sevilla fans will be eager to see how Iheanacho fits into the team’s playing style and whether he can replicate or improve upon his goal-scoring form from his time in England. The club will hope that this free transfer proves to be a shrewd piece of business as they aim to compete at the top end of La Liga.
