Lagos First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, blames elevator accident that killed female doctor on ‘spiritual arrow’

Lagos First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has blamed the death of Dr Vwaere Diaso on spiritual arrows.

The Doctor’s death was caused by a faulty elevator at the Lagos State General Hospital in Odan.

She died on August 1, the same day helicopter crashed into a building in the Ikeja area of Lagos State. This two tragic coincidence, has led the governor’s wife to blame ‘spiritual arrows’ to the misfortune.

The Lagos state government has already set up an inquiry team to investigate the elevator accident that killed Dr Diaso.

Also, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Lagos State announced an indefinite strike, after instructing all the doctors working in the three government hospitals on the Lagos Island to down tools in protest of the death of Diaso.

Tens of House Officers at the Lagos State General Hospital, Odan, also protested against the death of Diaso, who reportedly fell to her death from the 10th to the ground floor of the elevator.

The doctor’s demise has continued to attract a chorus of condemnation on social media platforms, with many Nigerians accusing the hospital’s management of negligence.

The elevator was said to have had faults which staff had frequently complained about to no avail, as per reporting by Sahara Reporters.

But on Wednesday, the governor’s wife, while addressing the media, implied that the incident was caused by a “spiritual attack” against the health sector.

In a now-viral video, Ibijoke also linked the incident to the helicopter accident that occurred in the state on Tuesday while seeking answers from the crowd.

“An arrow has been fired into the health family. First of August is a day I will never forget,” she said. “The same day a helicopter crashed, the same day a lift dropped down. How? How? How?”
