Popular socialite and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Ambassador Oghenekaro Ekewenu is dead. Ekewenu who was fondly referred to as Karo Ekewenu reportedly died in his sleep about two weeks ago in his home.
He was in his early 40s. Ekewenu was a businessman, philanthropist and United Nations Ambassador on Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to his defection to the APC in the build up to the 2023 general election, he was a close ally of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and was his Executive Assistant on Marine Development.
He was also a friend of the incumbent Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori. He, however, supported former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and President Bola Tinubu in the last election following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was married to his Fovwe Sandra, a former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (Universe).
